« on: August 08, 2008, 09:36 »
Could i use net curtains to net of my veggies? Wondered wuold they let enough light and water through - like a cheap version of enviromesh? (am very skint at the mo!!)
Wasnt thinking of anything with heavy embroidery, but plain without holes kind.

Thank you for the speedy reply grannieannie, it was oh's idea, when we looked at mesh on sun at the garden centre he said 'it looks like net curtain, cant we use that instead?'.  I can get it cheap in town and maybe from the tip or second hand shops too.

I used some but it got very heavy when wet. Mind you it may as well be put to good use at the plot. Can't stand the darn things :D

Make sure the net curtains are spotlessly clean titch.

You know what the neighbours say about people with dirty net curtains

we got some really cheap in the local charity shop.  (they look lovely in my bedroom -     )  Seriously, they have worked well over the rocket etc to keep of the flea beetles.  Mrs Bouquet

we used them over raspberries, blackcurrant and redcurrant , they last a few years , if you only use them for the few weeks when fruit is there . we used clothes pegs to secure them to the bushes . agree Aunt Sally , always washed them before cos did nt want the neighbours thinking bad of us.
