Lovely Photo Cynara - I am sure she would love to paint it.

Keep the plot cultivated, that's the best way to ensure its future.

Air temperature inside my greenhouse today: 4deg
Soil temperature: 3deg
Just in case anyone was wondering
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I shall sleep easy tonight, & thanks for dragging this thread back OT.

It must be about 15 years or so now, but across the road from us is an old clay pit - now called 'Charnwood Water'. (It is actually quite a nice place).

It was in a really cold spell and I was on duty at Loughborough nick when a member of the public called to say there was a car parked on the ice in the middle of the lake - must have been 100 yds out.

Naturally it was nicked one, and it took a brave recovery chap to crawl slowly out there to hitch a line & winch it back to the shore.

They don't make winters like that anymore!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

It's feeling cold here today - the last few days the wind's been NorthEasterly, but it's still approx 8 degrees. I was sure there would have been a frost in the night, but nothing :(

It's not freezing here, but still couldn't feel my fingers after I been to the plot to harvest sprouts, parsnips & leeks.

Parsnips are a s*d. They've grown so long I have to dig a hole by the side of them & pull 'em out sideways.

Ain't that clever! Never thought of doing that! Very handy tip for harvesting from clay. Ta.

You might have missed that post earlier in the year, someone wrote in about uneven 2feet parsnips!

Would hardly be worth the bother, especially today. Even beans are sensitive. (Hiding for cover)

It is 6-7 C here. A bit like last summer.
