Well, up here at Selby, we had overnight low of 1deg C, so awoke to a crisp white frost this morning. Ive now got lots of droopy plants waiting for the sun to hit them, and a steaming bird bath (trying to defrost it)

All the veg thats in is autumn sowing stuff so should be ok, or its the brassicas that are well established anyway.

Theres always good and bad to everything, and so it is with the frost - Good points - dark, clear, still skies at night; easier to dig soil as it thaws
Bad points - its F F F F Freeeeezing!!!

anyway, im meant to be in bed, im on nights, but too much needs doing

Whilst on this subject, i have broad beans, spring onions, spring cabbage and early carrots all as seedlings / young plants. Should i do anything to protect these?im wondering about earthing up around the carrots and beans to give them a bit of support and insulation

make ya own  use fencing wire or the bit on here about  hosepipe supports is a good one .i go to the dry cleaners and cadge a few clothes covers from them  cut them down the sides they make a tunnel , i put seed trays inside them  with supports to make a mini grenhouse , i am sure i said this before someplace
