yesterday..was brave and out out 18 toms.  Meant to have 3 varieties, 6 of each.  Somehow managed to put in 12 Gardeners Delight and 6 Sungold.  Good thing i like GD.  Runner beans went in on Friday and have put on a lot of growth already.  Amazing what a bit of sun does  :)

Courgettes are just about ready, so they might be my next plantings, together with the French beans and squashes.  Cucumbers have been slower to germinate and grow, so a bit behind with these.

Broad beans a week of first pickings

Now for the thunderstorm this pm, hopefully not the full inch promised in a hr..!!

Netted the Strawberries,  watered the tomatoes,  the crystal lemons, the late planted brassica seedlings and the tomatillos. Evening thunderstorm would be nice but looks unlikely.  :D

Cleared greenhouse of lettuce and planted toms in pots with bottoms cut out.
Planted toms in raised bed.
Gave blackfly on apple tree a nice bath in soapy water.  :D
Planted rocket out.
Bit of a tidy and watered up stuff in pots.  :)

Yesterday I planted out the runners and borlotti beans, but had to rig up some debris netting to shade them until the settle in, so that the leaves do not scorch

Planted out the aubergines, peppers and chillis in the giant-cloche-thingy, which is well shaded thank goodness.

Greenhouse at home all sorted, with toms and cucumbers in their final bags and pots... look very tidy :D

Space now to sow the yellow climbing flat beans

All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

I had the whole of last week of so lots of time in the allotment. Got my runners, celery, carrots, french beans, lettuce all in. I've only had the allotment since the beginning of the year and loving it1 :) We had a lovely bbq down there as well.

I trundled to the bottom of the garden to see if the newly transplanted polyanthus and primroses were coping with the heat and to check on Mr Fox's efforts over night.

The fox hadn't managed to lift the paving stone or dig up the half-bricks I used for his new front door.  :)

Last night - lots of watering ...thinking that the 80-ish metre walk to the tap should be doing me good with carrying watering cans ...but rather envious of those around me with hosepipes after several runs.  Anyway, also added netting for my runner and french beans with have started to come through. Courgettes doing well so unleashed them from their pop-bottle cloches.  Mangetout, on the other hand seem to growing very slowly. Planted a few radishes. A bit of a tidy up - back tonight for more watering and tidying.

Bit of general watering and I noticed that the Pea Weevils have been quite active!!

Arrived at the plot to find the thick polythene sheeting I'd temporarily nailed over the window had been removed. I had lent my plot neighbour my spade the other day when I was leaving, and for some reason he thought it was appropriate to remove the sheeting and push my spade through the window, leaving everything in view to theives, rather than just keep the spade himself or put it in my polytunnel. Not the brightest spark methinks.

Fixed the window then dug over some more of the plot. Checked on my seedlings and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly courgettes germinate!

Had a few ciggies and came home. Then remembered I'd forgotten to water my toms and went back again.

built cane structure then planted out 20 french bean plants. Bit of digging assisted by my mate 'big steve' whos size seemed to ease the digging and made my effort look misarable. Oh and like everyone else plenty of watering
