Had every intention of putting my two new 9 week old hens in with my existing hen and her 10 week old hen tonight.  So waited till got dark and went out only to find the 10 week old still sleeps under her mums wings.  She has got to be half size of mum but when opened house mum huddled in corner no sign of 10 week old then saw her sticking out from under wings.  Decided not to put new ones in tonight.  Do you think if she is still doing this she will attack the new ones?  They have been mixing on yard for a week, had no fights but just ignoring each other and giving each other a wide berth is this normal.  Tried putting mum and 10 week old on perch to roost but they just get down and go back to the corner.

woody is just fine hes cuddled up with the other two i had a job to see him think they are mothering him a little, hes at the back they are either side of him.

left them alone last night and will try to build time up in run together and have another go next weekend.   Just don't know how she fits under mum, she is the same size as your henny penny.   Glad to hear woody settled.
