Just wondering how late everyone's hens are staying out now it's that bit lighter in the evenings?

Our two are often out til 5.30 now as it's just starting to get dark then.

You're further west than most of us Rose.  Therefore sunset is later for you  :D

ours trooped in about 5pm - it was raining any cloudy so I think on a clearer day might be a little later. Just outside Bristol - very west!
Funny though popped my head in about 5.30pm and my biggins my black cochin was still eating!!!

Ours go in after their tea.  Today that was about 5.

A friend popped round at about 6 and had a look at our chicken house.  He'd never seen chickens perching before.  Shocking.  His father's had chickens for 50 years and they've never had a perch.

Wow!! But your dawn will be earlier than ours, right?

Contadino, our hens have a perch but don't use it :D

Mine are going in between 4pm & 5:45 depending on weather, had a lot of low cloud over last 2 days so going in quite early.  The other day when sun was shining & light till almost 6pm they went in about 5:45.

Also getting up earlier even though still dark :!:

Wiltshire we are going to dusk at about 4.30 unless its overcast, the ducks do whatever I tell them

Mine seem to be up earlier though and Sampson is crowing before I can see any sign of light :(  only hear him when I get up to go to bathroom though and its faint as he is far away, thank goodness :!:

mine go in about 4.30.  but yesterday my daughter dropped the pop door at about 2.30 when she checked for eggs with her freind and forgot to open it again, all 6 had perched  on a branch in the run because they couldn't get in.  They never go on that branch in the day, i had to lift them in one by one. They are so predictable.

Even more westerly but my four have been going in by about 4.45 pm in the last few days, but there is sometimes quite a variance before the first one and the last one.

Mine are not in until between 6 and 6.15pm but we're an hour later over here so that explains it!

Similar times here in the East. 4.30-5 ish depending on the weather.

Last night they squeezed the last drops out of the day because I'd hung some greens up for them to decimate.
