At what age is a duck too old to eat!

We have 4 Pekin ducks about 12 months old - they are now surplus to requorement - are they too old to eat - eg too tough or would they be Ok.

Hi,

Don't really know, have been having the same debate about my drake particularly as he is freally bothering the girls at the moment. Thinking of giving it a go and pot roasting him very slowly.

would suspect they would be on the tough side and so would be best casseroled/ slow cooked for a long time. Hanging them with the feathers off for a week or more in a cool room would probs improve them. Commercial ducks will be on the table within 8 weeks :shock:
