Please let me know how you got on - if this recipe doesn't work let me know and I'll ask around the village for other recipes (just never sure with these 'older' type of cookery book, tastes have changed rather)

Good snailing!! ;) ;) ;) ;)

Is this common or garden snails or those roman ones, Eli ?

I have 2 hens, but they don't seem interested in the snails.  (Maybe put a little salt on them will make them tastier   ;) )

My hens love slugs but don't go for snails - maybe its the shell that puts them off? Luckily I have a thrush in my garden, plus visiting hedgehogs, so the snail population is being dealt with. As for climbing, I've seen snails 8 or 9 feet up the wall of the house

If you go to your local Starbucks (for those of us who live at the poncy end of the country) they will give you a nice big bag of coffee grounds for free.

I don't have too much of a snail problem, but nemaslug has cleared my slugs away very smartly.  If only they made nemapigeon...

I have tried a multi-pronged approach, beer traps and nemaslug for the slugs, organic slug and snail pellets and holly leaves around vulnerable plants, also squashing any of the little b**gers that I find.  So far so good, there are definitely not as many holes appearing in plants.  They are probably just gathered together somewhere plotting their next move though!

Hard to believe, but after all this rain we've been having, my new hosta is still completely unscathed - and no measures taken at all  :D - there must be a hedgehog and/or thrush around. I am almost certainly tempting fate by even mentioning it...
