Thanks Kagganz - guess buckets are buckets at the end of the day. I'm using 25 litre ones (ex food containers) and put three in each of them, so I'm hoping they're not too cramped and perhaps give me 6+ potatoes from each of them  :tongue2:

Great to see that you've got them on the plate before the end of May. I 'aim' for the first week in June, along with the first pickings of mange tout peas, in time for my birthday. Well on track this year.

Now I've mentioned this before, but never had a satisfactory answer. I much prefer the flavour of new potatoes once they are two to three days old, rather than straight out of the ground, anyone got any idea what's going on inside those wonderful little tubers?

Regards,

SS

It might just be that they are "relaxing" and this allows the flavour to mature - no idea if this is the scientific case tho', but with cooked food it often happens that the flavour is better the day after, or if left for longer, enzymes causing breakdown and extra flavour juices and all that jazz....

enjoyable tho whatever the reason :tongue2:

I'm just planting my potatoes and you already have them harvested :)
I know people will be tempted to lift their spuds now but just give them another week with all of this rain and you will have a much bigger crop.

You got my mouth watering now for mine Kagganz  :).

Does anybody know if Home Guard Flower?
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.
