I have now decided that damaged pot will be my first taster  :tongue2:
They are maris bard and were planted 21st april after i chitted them.
The buds were well on there way to becoming flowers.
So when would you try a few out of it ?
so they have been out for about 50 days.
Is that far too soon for a naughty treat tomorrow ?

I usually go for between  12- 15 weeks for first earlies, depending on the weather, that are in open ground/raised beds.

Dug some rockets today -- enough for dinner but a bit on the small side still - planted on 17th March so that is about 13 weeks

You might have enough to eat: have furtle about to see

The weeks will fly by  ;)

If it stops raining, keep an eye on moisture levels, as now is the time the potatoes need plenty of water

Not much of a problem at the moment KC!

Furtling tomorrow, at about 11.00am.

Think of me please...;0)

50 days is too little Hush. If you slaughter them too early, you'll probably wish you hadn't, but I fully understand why you'd have a bash!

Funny old time with New Spuds in June, many are ready, many aren't!

This is the only problem i have with growing anything.
I just dont know when to water and when i do water,Its all guess work how much i water them.
I know you feel the soil for dryness etc.. But i still dont know lol
I get the hosepipe out and just give them a blooming good soaking
So any tips on the watering process would be my god send  :D
Saying that,This is first time since i have been growing (3 years) that i aint watered them,Apart from once when we had that really hot week or so.
Now they gona be swelling  :tongue2: i know they need lots

With those pots I'd give each a canful of wter at least twice a week: the mass of foliage means lots of water evaporates through those leaves even when not sunny

And when it is raining , it stops rain from reaching the surface of the pot.

(Unless it is a hammering downpour of course!)
