« on: May 12, 2020, 15:50 »
my potatoes have significant frost damage - everyone on my plot has damage to various degree.

some people say earth them up (which is what Ive done), some people say leave alone.

I have earthed up several times as I planted early thinking we make lose access to the plot...even my last attempt didn't save the new growth from the frosts....hopefully they will pull through...have covered with some grow tunnel type things especially for the next few nights, hopefully they will pull through :(

Earthing them up does give them protection against further frost damage, but they usually grow again, whatever you do.

I have my spuds in bags at home and they were damaged despite being fleeced.
They will recover though
Keep digging

.
Mine were badly damaged as well, as it has happened in other years I just leave them as they are as they will sprout from any undamaged buds on undamaged stems.

They will be a bit later for harvesting with me!
STOP, and smell the roses!
