Confused strawberries again
« on: September 02, 2012, 18:16 »
I know a lot of us had strawberries flowering and fruiting last autumn, but mine are at it again this year.

Just hoping the weather is kind and I get all these fruits to ripen  :)

Lucky you :) I always get a few of my garden strawberries flowering and fruiting late in the year, but they never ripen :(. Do you know what variety they are?

mine too! - didn't take a photo though but there was one lovely ripe one.. but it had been slugged  :mad:

Weather forecast up here is rather good for the next week or so... here's hoping on a late summer to make up for the none-existent one so far this year!

My Albion* strawberries have been producing non-stop since the beginning of June and show no signs of stopping flowering anytime soon, although whether they'll develop and ripen fully is anyone's guess............

* Not mentioned them since 13th July!!  :tongue2:  :tongue2:

Do you know what variety they are?

These are Avalance, which is the new 'climbing' strawberry - in truth you have to constantly tie the runners to the support, so I decided that was too much work and now grow them hanging down over a tall container  :)

the ones that we planted earlier this year are just coming into fruit, just in time to go with the autumn raspberries..

I have a few plants in a second flush of flowers.. about 5-10% randomley scattered  in my patch. Could they be a late variety or just confused.. These were runners last year so only been in since Sept and were from runners I harvested from a few plants I was given. They all look the same variety as all have same large foliage and look similar.
