I grew black russian last year and found that they were ripe before they looked ripe. They have a lovely sweet flavour.

How does a chap look like a keen gardener......................... or was it the green figers that gave him away?

Tomatoes are like London buses, you wait ages for one, then they all come along at once!

I started picking a couple last Thursday, and now they are all starting to ripen.

Woooppeeeee, proper tomatoes at last!

Picked my first greenhouse tom this week. Suddenly there are several finally starting to change colour. The outdoor toms have succumbed to blight in the last couple of days though. I've cut off the affected parts and have several trusses of toms with very few leaves now. Oh well, not done too badly this year considering.

I've done that with some of my outside toms Maxyboo.  Hopefully the toms will ripen before the blight gets them too!

I found my first outdoor tomato today whilst going over the plant with a pair of scissors to get rid of some of the lower leaves.  I put it to one side while I finished the pruning session, got up and promptly stood on it

I'm doing what Grannie's doing......still cutting off increasing blighted leaves..... I've got loads of fruit and plenty of flowers but I still haven't had a ripe tom and we're off for a week to Cornwall.
I'll get back and they'll all be dead, I expect, after all that effort.
Que sera, sera.....
