Now she's just poking fun at me !
« on: July 25, 2012, 18:03 »
Since I moved here I've tried to grow a decent spud, spuds in bags, spuds in tubs, spuds in soil all an epic failure. This year I couldn't be bothered.

Since none of my beans germinated the bean bed has been empty amongst the knee high weeds I noticed a volunteer which I've just pulled out with a mind to sowing some green manure.

Note the complete and utter lack of scab too !

Burp ... All gone - well they were nice !

Either after 5 years of conditioning my soil is finally good enough to grow spuds in, or as Im more inclined to believe its Mother Nature way of reminding me I have brown thumbs and she doesn't.   ::)

They looked and tasted like Charlotte's to me, which I think I remember putting in there last year when nothing grew.

A nice little gift!

Having pulled up my entire crop due to blight last week, I was amazed to find a blight free volunteer plant hiding behind the water butt on my plot yesterday - it just amazed me!  I am unsure whether I will have much luck harvesting it though because the tuber must be sitting under the greenhouse  :(

Six spud bags lovingly earthed up to the top growing Juliette, Anya, Harmony and Maris Piper and I had to empty them all due to blight.
I suppose I was lucky to get anything.....about 5lb altogether but there were masses of teeny ones so if they'd been left I may well have had a reasonable crop.
I have no success with spuds too.
