Treadle feeders
« on: June 24, 2012, 11:57 »
I have 1 LF & 2 bantam cross, they're reasonable size, does anyone have bantams who use a treadle feeder? I was thinking of getting the  7kg Regency Treadle Feeder from ww.regencypoultry.com/feeders/metalfeeders/5kg_treadle_feeder.htm
I'm hoping it'll stop pigeons & crows pinching feed  & will be easier for others when we're away. I understand they're no good for lightweight bantams but hope mine are big enough!
Maybe the LF could open it for the others  lol ::)

I would ask the supplier if they are ok for true bantams as these birds do tend to be smaller and lighter than other bantams.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Hi Jennie Hennie - we have bantams and they have no difficulty using the treadle feeder - even the smallest one manages OK. Unfortunately the local rooks and starlings have learned that if 2/3 of them stand on the treadle they can also get a feed.   ::)
