What to protect against frost!
« on: May 03, 2012, 19:32 »
Hi folks a newbie here needing advice!

I have been told we will be getting a frost at weekend. So far I have strawberries, board beans, peas, cauliflower, onions and potatoes planted. The spuds are showing now and I keep earthing up but they are in a raised bed so it's testing harder to keep covering them.

Can anyone tell me what I need to fleece please to protect against frost.

It's the inside of the flowers, if they get frosted and go black, then they won't set fruit  :(

Peas will stand a frost of the order of which we're speaking.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Yes but make sure it is above the leaves and not just resting on them.

Definitely fleece the potatoes if you expect frost and the leaves are not covered with soil.
