Holes......lots of em.
« on: October 29, 2007, 15:22 »
I have found loads and I mean loads of holes in my lawn. I've been gardening for forty years and I've never seen anything like this before, they are about an inch in diameter and they are everywhere. It's not moles.

Any suggestions appreciated.

These holes are about an inch in diameter and over an area of about thirty feet square there are about sixty holes.

I also thought of mice, I'm blessed with squirrels, but they leave the lawn alone, prefer to hide things in the flower border and even more so in the soft pots of compost.

Ours was full of holes after the squirrels dug all our bulbs out of the lawn earlier this year.

Can't understand why Mrs WG would doubt the word of a bunch of wacky gardeners.  The Irish are famous for their version of pixies and consider themselves blessed if they've got one.
My guess is the cat. The little treasures are found in the usual places the cat would be.
