Feeding tomatoes

I've just been given a present of a bagful of those Levington slow release tomato feed granule/ball things. Apparently you just bung three to a pot into the soil and the tom gets all it needs nutrition wise every time you water it.
Are they any good, or would you need to supplement with some liquid tomato feed?

I've never used them, but if that's what they say to do - I'd trust them ;)

if you are worried just keep a beady eye on them  :D
