howdy ho everyone, been ages since ive posted.

sadly I no longer have my allotment as I have moved and now awaiting another one.

I have 20 elsanta and about 15 marshmellow plants in 10x10cm pots at the minute.

what is the best way to grow them in pots, is there a minimum size they should go in?

i was thinking maybe something along the lines of those long grow bags and have them on some greenhouse staging that i managed to get dead cheap last year in the wilko's sale?

Last year I used both pots and direct into the ground. Those planted direct were much more fruitful than the same type in pots. I used a strawberry planter and it just does not have enough volume of soil to support the strawbs I have in it. I did get a few from those I planted in a larger trough but I have removed some and used them to fill gaps in the ground. I cannot picture what a 10cm  pot looks like - I would plan on giving plenty of water.

For the last couple of years I've grown strawberry plants in 5L terracotta pots. The results have not been brilliant. They produced some fruit but needed constant watering in the summer.

I've planted them all up in a bed this year and the roots were very pot bound. I'd guess that each plant needs a nice big 10L pot to be really happy and productive.
