Is it suitable to plant strawberry plants into 10" pots with a compost/manure mix?

Shouldn't be a problem but you will have to give them a high potash feed when the fruit form. the pic shows a nice fat strawberry that I picked yesterday. As an experiment I'm growing some in various containers in the greenhouse to see how early I can get a crop. These are in a hanging basket and fed on tomato feed.

And watered often and well - that's the thing with potted fruit and veg, they're always thirsty.

I grow mine in the black pots you can get from the supermarkets.
They are kept outside all the time and do me well.
Please be patient! Learner gardener - allow plenty of room when passing!

And the million dollar question , what was the flavour like ?
If the weather holds i should be picking one or two outdoor strawbs in a weeks time. :)

I lied, i have just been out watering and have picked and eaten 5 ripe strawberries. These were from a plant in the border which i have probably neglected as far as watering goes and were possibly stressed into early fruiting.
The strawberries in the long planters (3ft x 6"x6") have filled out better than the ones in the ground but are as i said a week away from ripeness.
A night of steady rain would be good.
