Fallen fruit
« on: October 20, 2007, 19:08 »
When we took on our allotment about 4 weeks ago there were two plum trees that were just coming to the end of their fruiting season.  I now have lots of rotten plums either on the tree or on the ground. What is the best thing to do with them?

I was wanting to make some leaf mould with the leaves coming off the trees, but there are so many plums mixed up with the leaves that I don't know if it will have an adverse effect on it all.

I'd be grateful for any advice.
On the very steep learning curve of organic veg growing!!!!

whisky :tongue2:

I realised it's risky to use that word, whatever you would call it, spirits, for gone past plums.

They would eventually yes. Not before they wanted to become baby plum trees though.  Hopefully your compost heap gets hot.
