I bought a Barnvelder pullet last May. She was meant to be about 6 months old. Beautiful looking, but we only got 24 eggs off her all year. There had been a fox attack in the middle, so I thought I give her the benefit of the doubt. She moulted last September and has laid nothing since, and while she is looking pristine, I've noticed two of her feathers are white at the end. Now she's either been playing with the bleach or going grey. Is she older than I was told, just a bad laying strain or is there something I should be worried about?

She is inquisitive, free-ranges daily, eats well and does lovely poos

White splashes on the feathers can occur after moulting.  Then they tend to appear and disappear with subsequent moults.

It is something which chow people despair over, but for a backyard keeper it don't effect the bird at all
