It's a bit early for them to leaf out or anything, but if you do a tiny scratch on the main stem, it should show a bit of green, which means its still alive, just sleeping. If no green, then its a waste of space.

Picture's a bit small, but I can't see any buds on it, which is not a good sign. Mine are full of bud.
