Anyone tried Sork anti mole bulbs?
« on: September 06, 2011, 23:34 »
I saw them mentioned on Bunty's blog, when I followed a link from this forum. She said they're effective against moles and mice, both of which are the bane of my life in my garden. They're not cheap, though, so I'd like to know how effective they are before buying some. Anyone tried them? And did they work?

I've bought some to try and stop the mice/voles eating the tulip bulbs I'm putting in next month - given that something eat all my onions and shallots in a couple of days, I thought it was worth a try. However the instructions suggest that you use them to stop moles entering an area - given the voles and mice seem to already be everywhere, I'm not confident they will work - and I probably won't know until spring when I see how many tulips come up.

I'm surprised mice would eat onions. I've got regiments of mice in my garden that have eaten their way through every single carrot, parsnip and strawberry, but they haven't touched any of the onions, spring onions or garlic.

I tried them this year !!!

Planted 5 in the mole runs and 5 in front of my sweetpeas

I now have more moles then ever before, I guess I must be doing something wrong

Oh, that's a shame. I was hoping I'd found something that would work. I do find the sonic scarers work very well, but the trouble is that mine are solar powered and when we have long spells of cloudy dull weather, as we have this summer, they just don't keep their charge. And they certainly don't seem to work on mice.

If it wasn't mice/voles that eat the onions, I'm not sure what else it was. They were netted and the netting wasn't disturbed so I ruled out birds and rabbits, but what ever it was they eat 6 rows worth in under a week.

That's something that is very hungry (or greedy!)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
