Lydia, my bantam cross has twice today been in to lay an egg and come out not succeeding.
about 4.30ish she went back in and is still sitting.Should I be looking for a problem and if so what to do or is this ok to let nature take it's course.
She lays most days, a little later each day until about 3 and then has a day off usually.
Any advice or reassurance would be great.
What would we do without this forum.

Is it normal to lay this late in the day?

Hello Jennie,
as I understand it the egg producing cycle lasts 25 hours so the eggs should get a little later each day.

They can lay at anytime during the day though eggs which would normally be laid at night are delayed until morning which makes it appear the eggs are laid in a morning.
