Find out if the hens have been on the van all day.  Have a look at the conditions they have been kept in.

If you are not happy don't accept the hens.

give them some food and water then pop them in the coop until morning. Check them over for any signs of stress, heat exhaustion etc. I would write a complaint to the place where they came from (please don't name them on here) and if the birds show any signs of an illness in the next few days take them back. Todays journey should not have taken anywhere as long as that.
Staffies are softer than you think.

If they have been on the van all day I would not accept them.  They might need an experienced person to spot any problems and it should not be your responsibility.

Were the chicks and the coop/run being delivered together?
that part isn't very clear.
I would be having some very severe words with these couriers if it were me and it has taken all day to deliver them.
I hope the other post has got it right and they've been left at the depot whilst the van has been out collecting.
Have they arrived now??

Tell that to the hens!!!

If this is the large company I think it is that delivers to different areas all over the country on different dates I am disgusted.  Please tell me it is a little known/publicised company.  Please do not name the company.  If you read the logo on their van I think they are mis-selling.

I do hope they had an air conditioned van otherwise they could have over heated and suffered from heat exhaustion. Keep a very close eye on them for a few days and put it in writing how bad this service was.

Numpty

Think you need to change your forum name as you are anything but a "Numpty".  You did the right thing and asked for help.  You were more concerned about the hens than the company who supplied them.  I have no doubt that you will care for your hens the way they should be looked after.

Keep us all up to date on your progress and welcome to the forum.

Suggestions for a new name for Numptyone would be appreciated.   ;)
