We were expecting delivery of our new Chooks Today we were told 5.30 this evening to deliver and erect our Coop well its 6.30 now and our girls have been on the van since 8.00 what shall we do ??

quickly get in touch with the courier - to find out hwere they are and also to check if the birds have been given anything to drink during their transit. When you get them put them in the coop with food and water and leave them to recover until tomorrow morning. I trust these couriers know they have livestock on board as there are strict rules for transporting live animals.

we have bought the whole set up from a place in the north west its all brand new  and the birds are on there van along with our  coop and run l have rang and told her of my concern that the chooks have been on the van for nearly 11hours she says they are running late and eveything will be alright  we are worried for there welfare

still no sign they have been on the van since 8 this morning
they have been watered but because it is now late (we have paid for them to put the coop together ) should we leave them in the run to go to bed themselves ? or put them in the coop ?

the place we bought them from was 1 hour from US we have had not call so dont know the ETA   us but bought my wife rang this morning that is how we know the van has been on the road since 8.00

over 11 hours to travel 1 hour? but You said they were from up North West?

north west -- they must have done the rounds today on the back of van and we must have been the next to last as the van is now going back to near were it started just off M55

If they are only 1 hour away I think they will have been collecting orders as and when they have finished the last delivery.  Can't imagine that they would load a van full of coops and hens for several different deliveries which include putting coops together.  If it is a hot day for deliveries they would have a van full of dead hens.  This would not be good practice.  Think it is common practice with all delivery companies to say your order is on the van.
