why are my squashes producing only male flowers??

It's normal for that type of veg.  Have patience the females will catch up ...

thank goodness - mine are actually Squashkins this year - butternuts would have had female flowers by now and fruit!  should I pinch out the growing tips or let them trail?  What are people's opinions on this?

Don`t be too sure. Just been and checked and not a female in sight. Or is this just me!!!

I'm trying to grow a reasonably large one this year and felt really guilty about chopping off a lot of the runners and females today now that one's set & swelling.

I`m not going for a big one this year, just one for the grandson to put his name on. Next year you may have compitition!
