I've seen another post a while back saying something like this. I've never had it happen before. For weeks I had nothing but male flowers. Then I had small fruit that kept dropping off unfertilised. And now I've got fruit that is fertilised but simply isn't getting any bigger. I can't believe it. And this is from 6 different plants of 3 different varieties. And yet the squash right next to them, which are supposedly more tender and more difficult to fruit, are growing like triffids and putting off fruit like squash possessed.

What on earth could be causing this?

Their cousins are up here and sulking too. What is causing it we do not know but some of us can grow marrows but none of us are really doing well with courgettes.

It has to be a dud plant if the neighbours are doing so well and all plants are receiving the same treatment of water soil type and feed etc.

If the leaves on your dud were discoloured or mal formed  in any way I would say someone has peed on it. 

I have three plants. Two in manure/soil one in compost. The manure pair are thriving where as the compost one needs a pick me up.
