are the cukes indoor or outdoor types?

You can stop pumpkins after 3 fruits have set, or leave them be...I choose the lazy option :)

I chop off pumpkin shoots that are in the way ie trailing across the path, so I don't fall over them.

Interestingly, shoots that run over soil grow roots from leaf joints, which boost the plant, so don't stop them too soon  ;)

I do the same as mum - after 3 squash have set on each vine, I nip off the growing tip so the squash can develop more fully.  I never do this with courgettes though, just let them keep going.

And I never pinch off cukes unless they vine so much that they become a problem. The last few years I've trained them up one side of my munty frame and they're quite happy up there. My neighbor is very happy to take any extra cukes.

The cucs are an outdoor variety that i am growing indoors! No removing of male flowers recommended if that makes a difference.

I have 4 pumpkin plants and read somewhere to pinch out the growing tip after 4 leaves have formed, then let 2 fruit set on each side shoot that will form.

Pumpkins are a bit different in that they set much larger fruit, so 2 would be better than 3 for squash. For the big Atlantic pumpkins, one is all the plant can handle.

I never bother removing the male flowers as they do nothing other than offer pollen, sometimes.  Life is already too busy to worry about picking them off.
