Marrows In Meltdown?
« on: June 20, 2011, 16:12 »
Have recently planted three marrow plants into a manured plot (was added and has been dug well in since beginning of April). Despite being watered during dry days, and nourished by recent rains the leaves are looking pretty damaged. Would appreciate any advice thoughts what's going on, or is that usual for marrow?

Are they in a windy spot?  Looks like they may have got a bit chilly?

It is a fairly exposed and a wind prone plot,  and seems the past weeks each day it has been blowing  non-stop.

Mine went like that when I first put them out this year, but they are now growing new leaves which are proper green.

I expect they just have a chill,as Nicki suggested  :)

Definitely looks like wind chill.

I put an 18 inch high debris netting screen around mine, and they are doing fine  :)

It just keeps the wind down enough by the looks of it  :)
Cheers, Comfortably Numb.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long ..........................

I put a morrow out about three weeks ago and it's done exactly the same. I would concur with the wind chill notion. It's slowly getting over it now.
