Chilli Question
« on: June 05, 2011, 13:39 »
Can anyone tell me please what size pots I should be potting my chillis into? They are ifilling 4/5 at the moment.
They are hungarian wax if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Elaine

Different chilli varieties do vary quite a lot in size. I normally use 10" pots and they seem fine in those, always get a good crop.

Thanks mum and shokkyy.
Can't lay my hands on 7 x 16'' pots without some expense, so I will settle for 10'' or so and see what happens.

Cheers

My Hungarian Hot Wax is in a pot 7" in diameter. It currently has 18 chillis on it all just at that ready to pick point for HHWs (just when they are starting to get a hint of orange to their colour). Already had 7 off it.

So you don't need to go too big if you don't have the space.

We haven't grown Hungarian Wax, but for the few other varieties we do grow we tend to use 2 litre pots, which I guess are much the same size you are using Adrian. A little bigger might be ideal, but we get plenty fruits on many plants and they are easy to fit in around the place.
