I've got a couple of big clay pots that got stacked together over the winter, and now I can't separate them. I've tried shoving a stick in the hole at the base of the outside one to push the inside one out, but no luck. Anybody know any tricks for doing this?

You could try filling the inner one with ice, dont know if it will split but it should shrink it.

Try putting them in a sink of hot water. They should expand and be releasable.

If too big for the sink put them upside down and pour hot water over the outside pot.

Adding some washing up soap to the water should add more slickness for easier separation.

For future reference when I stack my large pots over winter I put a plastic shopping bag around each one before sliding it inside the previous one. They don't stick together then.

When stacking I put a couple of stones in each one, which means the next one can't fully seat itself down and so they don't get stuck
