Hi everyone, can anyone shed some light on my problem. I have 8 chickens all given to me this year, ive got 2 old battery hens im not sure of their ages though.  One is laying just membrane and the other is laying large eggs but they are very watery.  Not sure if its because of their ages?  They are on layers pellet with added grit, ive tried the milk theory but nothing changed, can anyone help?

its their age - do they have access to oyster shell all the time?

Yes access to shell at all times, in fact i keep putting it in so they have more!  Milk theory, giving them milk to build the calcuim up to get better shells!

Try a little cod liver oil on a piece of bread, it apparently helps the hen to absorb the calcium.  Works on my Bossy Boots who occasionally lays soft shelled eggs.  Good Luck

I give cod liver oil to mine when they are under the weather, also garlic
