I bought a butternut squash at B&Q couple of months back as an afterthought really. I just stuck it on my bathroom window sill for a while and it took off nicely. I planted it 2 weeks ago in my garden and i am pleased to say it has 3 flower buds on so far. On average how many squashes can you expect from one plant?

I grew butternuts last year and mine were not as far on as yours seems to be at this stage, so I got between 1 and 3. Usually only the first two were worth having. Yours seems to be off to a better start than mine so you might get more.

The weather in Essex has been so warm for so long everything i have seems to be ahead.
Its a pain watering it all though but has to be done!!

I would be happy with 3 squashes. Fingers crossed

Hi. I normally get half a dozen at least.

Keep very well watered and well fed.

I plant mine into a hole filled with rotton manure.
