Tomato planting
« on: April 27, 2011, 11:35 »
Is it too early to put my tomato plants in the lotty, they are about 12 - 18 inches high and are out growing the mini greenhouse?

I'm aiming to put my tomato plants in the greenhouse for mid/end May.

They're currently happily growing sway on my windowsill, as some nights are still a little chilly for the greenhouse.

I reckon its a bit early if there is no protection for them.  The forecast for the rest of the month is a bit cooler than it has been.  So a bit of a risk.  Could do some and keep the others in that you have room for.  Or bring them indoors on a tray after repotting if you are allowed!

You can't put them outside untill the night time temperature is reliably above 10C minimum.
One night below this and you may as well start again.

It's a good idea to sow toms for outside a bit later than ones for the greenhouse, if you have no-where to grow them on :)
