Depends on the type of duck and differing opi :)nions. Some say only need a bucket to dunk their heads. Personally I give mine a bucket and a pond. They do love to swim!

How many are you looking at and what breed?

A paddling pool or large water trough is pretty good, as long as they can have a dunk - although some breeds seem to need more water than others.

Something to consider with a pool or trough is that the water will get mucky very quickly (within a couple of days you'll need to change it) which can become a pain.  A filter/pump will increase this to a fortnightly and beyond job, but given the location not sure how feasible that would be?
