I have been hatching partridge cochins and cream legbars.  I obviously know that I have one legbar cockerel and I think I have one Partridge cochin cockerel or maybe two.  I would love to keep them but dont think my neighbours would approve. 

When is the best or right time to try and rehome them? 

Also where is it best to advertise them?  I am not interested in money but would ideally like them to go where they wont be supper.

I am expecting a few as I have 10 buff orpington eggs and 10 lavendar araucanas hatching mothers day so I will have my fair share of cockerals.

I am not adverse to the eating of them as I do understand the self sufficiency thing and really like the idea of this but dont feel quite ready for this just now.  I know I should maybe.  There is a course about how to kill, skin, dress your chickens maybe I will attend.

Unfortunately culling cockerels should become a part of life if you choose to incubate a lot of eggs.

It is very difficult to rehome cockerels, although you may have better luck with purebred birds than "mongrel" types.

Also if you specify "not for the pot" again, I think you will find it very difficult to find homes for them all. (of course you could be really lucky and hatch 100% pullets  )
