Us oop north can't afford to do owt else as that bottled stuff costs too much :tongue2:

Can't see any reason why it wouldn't work but it would be a rather smelly mess. I will stick to using the bottled version bought from our local posh garden centre. Let us know how you get on as we will all wait in anticipation ;)

I use old socks filled with sheep muck, suspended in the middle of a spare water tub.  (Use an old incinerator lid for the top and have the suspension wire fastened to a stick across the incinerator lid chimney.  Lift the lid and swirl it all around once in a while to keep it doing its' stuff.  Generally have a few tubs on the go (old large plastic chemical drums with the top sawn off).  Seemed to work as well on my toms last year as commercially produced stuff.

It do pong 'a bit' though, true, definitely not one for anywhere near habitation!

very old joke:
"What you stirring that sheep muck inter t'watter fer?"
"Puts it on mi tomatters."
"Oh aye? Prefers mayo on 'em, misen..."

I'll get me coat.

Seaweed makes a better liquid feed but that's no use if you don't live near the sea.

I've used sheep muck before but it's much easier to gather seaweed. Sheep tend to wander about a lot so unless you can get em all in one place you walk for miles before you've picked up enough to fill a sack.

Oh, and I doubt that any farmer from up north would use the word poo  :D

Is one allowed to toddle down to the sea-side and help one's self to seaweed?

Sounds a frightfully jolly idea don't you know!  :)

Learner, yes and no. It depends on exactly who owns the shore to high/low water mark and whether they can give you permission to take or not. Its quite complicated and it has been discussed on here before if you want to search it. ;)

Must get myself some seaweed tea going soon... :)

I agree Mr Sol Cropper, just one point to make here as I got my hands slapped once, it is against the stupid insane laws of this country to take seaweed of the shore, it is classed as council land!
you also need to give it  a good wash before use, I normaly put a couple of layers in the main muck heap to.

i've been collecting seaweed off the beach in brighton for quite a while with no problems or issues, its all washed up free plant food as far as i'm concerned.
i have no care for council rules about such things and nor does the council :-)
i use it on the compost heap, on beds and as tea.
amazing stuff indeed :-)
