Seed germination ...
« on: August 02, 2006, 14:22 »
... help please.

I'm new so I'll just introduce myself first.  This the second year at my allotment, we grow a variety of fruit and veg, with a smattering of flowers for companion planting and just because!

I am really struggling to germinate seeds at the minute ... coriander and basil are romping away but rocket and spinach, not a flipping sign!  I know it's been hot and dry, do I keep watering and hope or do I reseed or do I go buy a bag of spinach and rocket from the farmer's market?

If things haven't shown after a decent interval - say a couple of weeks - chances are that they are not going to so re-seed. Can't win in this game, it's either too hot, too cold, too wet or too dry.
Of course, the seed packet you drop into the wrong place by accident will all germinate!
