first night , food and water

hello folks this is my first night and new with 3 chickens and worried as whats right, ive made sure the  hens are in the house secure and ive left water but will they need food in the night or just be ok till the morning when i let them out into the run also only one will sit on a perch the other two are laying on the floor, is this normal or is it because its new to them plus i had to get them two into the house. could anybody help me on this please?

I had the same thoughts when i got my girls, I don't put anything in the coop at night just let them settle in had mine nearly a year and still have to put one to bed at night.
two thing you should never worry about, yesterday and tomorrow.

they don't need any food or water over night  :)

I had to put mine in the first couple of nights and they figured it out after that and have always gone in ever since. Mine don't perch either, I wonder if it is due to the design of my hen house. It is not a problem to me. Some people find they get mucky from lying down. Some make them perch to try to get them in the habit.

They don't need food and water over night and it is a good idea to bring it inside at night to avoid attracting rats and so your water does not freeze.

Sometimes they need lifting onto the perches to give them the idea! :)
