Hi - I see that a lot of people recommend removing food at night to discourage rats. Does this include cabbage and other veg, or just layers and corn?
I have recently discovered evidence of rats in my garden and don't want to encourage them.

Hello Bygrace,
I would remove any old cabbage or kitchen scraps that have not been eaten.  If you have already seen evidence of rats you certainly don't want to encourage them.

I always bring the pellet dish in at night to avoid pests and stop the food getting damp. A lot of the problem nowdays is many people have wild bird feeders and a good amount of the food ends up on the ground for nocturnal visitors to finish off.
A few rat traps may be a good investment.
