With this freaky weather, my lush pumpkin plant seems to be struggling to produce fruit that stays (they rot and fall off at a very small size), and I don't want it going to waste so I've picked some young soft leaves and planning on eating them.

My granma (I love this woman!), she cooks the leaves and I've eaten them, so I know they're not poisonous, but I need to ask her the recipe when I next speak to her. In the meantime, do any of you eat pumpkin leaves? Any recipes out there?

Also, do you do any pruning for pumpkins? This plant has taken over my plot, and as much as I love it's green, I wonder if pruning will encourage fruit production?

In desperation last night we pruned our pumpkin - it was almost on next-doors plot, and still hasn't had any fruit set. We have left the main part which has loads of flowers coming, hoping that it will send more of its energy into holding on to its fruit.
I expect this is all wrong - it was based on sheer instinct!
