My mums a teacher at the local primary school and they have just read 'the giant turnip', or something like that, anyway she asked me if she could still sow some turnips with her class and get some decent turnips?

Mine say sow June - August and I got mine in last month. They are now a good 5" high.
Really there's no harm in giving it a go......there will be greens even if it's too late for the root.

Up here we call swedes turnips and it's too late to sow them now. If you mean real turnips you might get some but they won't be giants.
