« on: July 16, 2010, 22:12 »
hello all this is my first post. I have been growing veg on and of for a few years now but have just got my first allotment this year after a 2 year wait :D I was wondering if i could put the ashes from my coal fire which also burns wood, onto my compost heap, i once heard that coal ash is not good for the veg plot, i would be gratefull for any info

thanks

Wood ash is good, coal ash is not...it has got lots of nasties in it that you wouldn't want near your growing veggies

Got to do something about these forum acoustics. There's a bit of an echo in here!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Wood ash/coal ash; it's a mine of information on here!
