Is there a general rule about the younger the sweeter/softer/ juicier?

Just picked our first peas - I was told to wait until the pods felt full.

But some of them were a bit hard and we were a bit disappointed. :cry:

Simply -yes.

Looks like you left them a little too long. You'll come to know with a bit of trial & error, but you've got to catch them just right.

Full but not to full if you know what I mean Jim also depends on the variety but mine I pick when they are swollen but not to the point when the peas appear to be shoving against each other. Just experience that's all Jim

My daughter couldn't wait so I let her pick one and told her they weren't quite ready. Well there was only tiny peas in but there were lovely and very sweet
