I have around 10 small plants (outdoor sowed) around 4/5 inches tall. I have searched the net for advice on growing these but the consensus seems to be that they will only grow in the UK under cover. Has anyone managed to get any produce growing outdoors.

I managed to grow some out on my plot  last year. They need warm growing condetions, a south facing sheltered spot would be needed for any chance of success. I was not very impressed with the beans though, by the time they reached 3ft long they had become tough and stringy. Perhaps they are best suited to warmer climates and treated as a novilty crop in this country.

The ones i put in the greenhouse last year did not do well. They managed a few late flowers but no beans.

Mine are outside against the shed trellis but I have slid a plastic cover up to them as far as I can get it before decapitating them. They look healthy enough so far

ive only grown them in the greenhouse and i agree with muddylou and think they are a waist of space sooner have propper beans tha you can ear

Thanks for the replies, I'll see how they get on over the next couple of weeks. I'll post here again to let anyone interested know how they're doing.
