Has anyone grown yard long beans? Are they really a yard long?

I tried these the last two years on the trot. I don't think the plants got to be a yard long, nevermind the beans.

Thanks for your replies. I have already bought some seeds so I will have to try them out, but going by other's experiences it does not sound like I will get much of a crop. I think I will mix them with the runners in the hope that they will get some shelter from them.
It seems to me that the reason why I have not heard of them before is because they are probably not worth growing in this climate.

they grow well in polytunnels ! Wouldn't bother outside.
