morning all, i was just hand weeding round my onions, acouple just fell over, looking at them they had no root and felt quite mushy  any ideas please  ty

 Same happened with me when I first discovered white rot, the plant did not look too bad, it just had little to no roots. On reading about the disease I became much more concerned.

 After that I diligently patrolled my onion patch, tugging on each onion. Any that came up easily were disposed of well away from my plot. I managed to save 50% of my onions this way. If I hadn't done this they probably would have all succumbed.
