ashley down allotments in bristol don't. the city tenancy agreement won't allow hose use. i think, from what i've heard it's common. though from your own water butt i don't see why not

we can use them, however a neighbour that has a plot on a different site can not, he says that the reason given, is so there is no waiting at the taps

We can use a hose to fill water butts, but must not use it directly on crops. Although I've noticed that the rules don't seem to apply to everybody  ::)

We're allowed, but I get annoyed when people leave their sprinklers on and then go home.

They usually come back to find that somehow they've got turned off.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

It's the same for us, but we have been having problems with people breaking the rules so the council have said if it carries on they will cut the water off completely

we can use them, however a neighbour that has a plot on a different site can not, he says that the reason given, is so there is no waiting at the taps

i'm guessing the site your on is not a council one but the other one is? all the council ones in peterborough are bound by the same set of terms and conditions

We can use hoses in Chichester.  Trouble is there are about 30 plots and six stand pipes, and if someone turns on their hose - yours reduces to a dribble.  We do try and stagger our times though to avoid the problem a bit.  It does mean relying on the water butt though for emergency watering!

We use them all the time, in fact the Council installed more standpipes to cut down the walking!  A pro allotment  Council :)
